Name: Ronald Bilius Weasley Nickname(s): Ron, Ronnie, Ronniekins, Won-Won (but don't call him that EVER) Age/Birthdate: 27 / March 1, 1980 Wand: Initially used Charlie's old wand, until it broke in his second year. He then receives a new wand, 14" willow with unicorn tail hair core. Bloodline: Pureblood Special Qualities: Chess, analysis and strategy. Tends to be wrong when he is serious, right when he is joking. Occupation: Expert Deluminator, Ex-Hogwarts student (Gryffindor), Ex-Keeper for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, Ex-Prefect, Manager at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, Auror Orientation: Heterosexual Organization: DA, Order.
Personality: Ron can be described as loyal, determined, proud and courageous. He has a very distinct personality, because he comes off as a bit of a self-centered ponce at first. He does have a tendency to be rude and obnoxious, though he sometimes can't help acting this way. It's sort of like his defense mechanism for when he feels someone is threatening his space or those whom he loves.
However, upon deeper inspection into Ron's personality, one realizes that he is exactly the opposite of self-centered. Even though he doesn't particularly put much thought into things right off the bat and wishes his family wasn't so poor, Ron does consider others' feelings on a matter. Whether or not he'll accept them in the end is a different story. Ron has a very distinct and consistent mindset. He doesn't like it when things change abruptly and would be more inclined to stick to tradition than to create new traditions. Of course, the only exception to this rule are his thoughts on Voldemort and purism in general.
Ron is a born leader. This is one of the main reasons why he was made Prefect. Even though it may seem as if he doesn't take his position seriously, deep down inside Ron is quite pleased with his making Prefect, especially since Harry did not. It is probably one of Ron's biggest flaws. He can get so jealous. He is jealous of Harry's popularity. He gets jealous if another boy even looks at Hermione in a way that he thinks might be suggestive. He gets jealous if Ginny gets better grades than he does. He really just doesn't want to look like the family fool, even though he would argue that the family fool is Percy.
Ron doesn't like to study at all. Even though he achieved fairly decent grades, studying, reading and organization were never things at the top of his list. He did pass most of his O.W.L.s. However, he didn't get any Outstandings. He is a mildly curious person, who excels at playing chess. Yet, he doesn't feel the need to study more than what is necessary. He sometimes doesn't even feel the need to study what is necessary, but he does and he does rather well in the end. A funny thing about Ron is that he tends to be wrong when he's serious and right when he's joking. Nearly all the horrible predictions he made in his Divination homework came true in one way or another. Of course, Ron is oblivious to this fact, yet it does tend to happen to him often.
It is difficult for Ron to trust people, especially with all he went through as a teenager. Being friends with Harry and Hermione has taught him to be a bit more cautious and to think before jumping into things blindly. Even though he still feels impulsive and may end up doing something stupid, Ron has learned to slow down a bit, especially when dealing with dangerous situations. He tries to think things through, using his analytical ability from playing chess. He is a caring person to his family and friends although he is a bit embarrassed of the former. Ron has stood by his family and friends through thick and thin, and he will always do so with honor and pride.
Likes/Dislikes: Ron loves playing chess. This is probably because he is quite good at it, beating Harry countless times before. He also enjoys playing Quidditch. His performance is not the best, though he is fairly good at it. Ron's favorite Quidditch team is the Chudley Cannons, and his room at The Burrow was plastered with posters of the team. Aside from chatting with his mates and hanging out with his siblings and wife, Ron does enjoy reading. Of course, his favorite books are those about the Chudley Cannons, which are the only books he'll really read for fun. He is fascinated by brooms, even though his isn't the best one. He also enjoys eating and sleeping very much.
Ron is deathly afraid of spiders. Just the mere mention of a spider makes the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. He gets really twitchy and tends to freeze if he actually does see a spider. This is the reason his boggart is a spider. Spiders make him incredibly uneasy, and even though he had to face off with the mother of all spiders during his second year, Ron is still shaken up by their existence. Ron's fear originated when he was about three years old. He had broken Fred's toy broomstick, and Fred retaliated by changing Ron's teddy bear into a giant spider, while Ron was holding it.
Then, when he was five years old, his sister, Ginny, was playing in the gardens of their backyard, when she found a spider and decided to show Ron. She picked it up and turned to show it to him, but she accidentally dropped it on his shoe. Ron screamed louder than he had ever screamed before and quickly kicked the spider off. The poor thing flew about a mile away, and by that time, Ron had already pelted toward the house to go and hide under his bed. Ron's been terrified of spiders ever since, although he can tolerate working with dead ones in Potions class. After encountering Aragog in the forest, Ron was so afraid he threw up in Hagrid's pumpkin patch.
Ron also has a strong dislike for the Tutshill Tornados, which is Cho Chang's favourite Quidditch team.
Strengths/Weakness: Ron is extremely brave. He is also Harry's loyal sidekick, always watching his best friend's back and accompanying him on as many of his adventures as possible. Even though he and Harry have had their fair share of fights in the past, Ron will always be by his side no matter what happens. Ron is a very determined person. As a Pureblooded wizard and a Weasley, Ron has gone against the traditional view of Pureblood superiority. He rejects any ideology that belittles people simply because of their blood. He has a relatively positive outlook on life, even though he struggles with feelings of having to live up to his older brothers who have made their mark on Hogwarts one way or another.
One of Ron's major problems is not being able to believe in himself. He can often times do very well when he does not feel pressured to do well. He is not a stupid person, yet he doesn't believe in himself. He gets nervous and begins to doubt his abilities. Another one of Ron's flaws is that he is way too proud to admit he's made a mistake. He doesn't like it when he's wrong and will not talk to anyone who goes against him. His pride has gotten him into a few major arguments with his best friend, Harry.
Background: There was no doubt that Arthur Weasley was a wizard. First of all, nearly all of the Weasleys had been wizards and witches in their time. Second and finally, Arthur had always been a curious child, sneaking off to observe Muggles and how they interacted. He would always jump out his bedroom window to "spy" on the Muggles in neighboring villages, and once, he was chased for nearly three blocks by a really big dog. That was why when Arthur received his Hogwart's letter, no one in his family was all that surprised. Arthur was a natural wizard. The Sorting Hat instantly placed him in Gryffindor, where he met his future wife, Molly Prewett.
Molly Prewett was always brave and motherly. She could not remember a time when she wasn't helping her mother with the cooking and the other household chores. Being the eldest sibling in the Prewett home, Molly was her brothers' second mother. Even though she was happy and pleasantly surprised to receive her Hogwarts letter, it was also plainly obvious that she was a witch. She had endured unlike any other girl, clearly displayed by her constantly working around the house and hardly ever sitting down to catch her breath. Also a Gryffindor, Molly showed great skill and a fearless dedication to her work. It was only when she began dating Arthur that her high marks began to slip a bit.
It was clear to all who knew them that Molly and Arthur had fallen in love at a young age. It was not a rare sight to see them holding hands while walking to class or to conveniently not see them both in class. Even though they did not hide that they were in love, they made sure not to snog each other in the hallways, because neither of them was particularly in favor of PDA. Plus, they understood the consequences of getting caught doing something inappropriate in the school. During the breaks, they would often visit each other's home, especially one summer after their fifth year when Molly's mother passed away. Although her father was still around to care for them, he was always working in order to be able to provide for them.
Molly was then in charge of the household since the tender age of fifteen. She kept the house neat and tidy, cooked and kept her brothers in line. She learned discipline, and she learned how to discipline others. Arthur would often stop by to keep the younger Prewett boys company, since they knew each other from school and from being in the same House. The Weasleys and the Prewetts were quick to get along with each other, and when Molly and Arthur announced their marriage after they had finished Hogwarts, no one was shocked or upset at all.
Arthur's interest in Muggles had not lessoned with the years. In fact, it only seemed to grow as he went through school. This was why he chose to work at the Ministry in a department that would have him learning as much as possible about Muggles. He became quite interested in plugs, "elecktricity" and other Muggle devices and inventions. Arthur and Molly had a simple wedding, as they weren't very wealthy, and soon found that Molly was having a baby. Although it would be difficult supporting this baby on Arthur's salary alone, they were both very excited when their first child was born. They named him William.
Two years later, Molly was pregnant again with another boy. This one would be named Charlie. By this time, Arthur felt that their tiny flat in London would not be enough to hold two growing boys, who needed their space to run. Even though it set them back economically, Arthur found a home near Ottery St. Catchpole, Devon and purchased it. Molly was furious to hear this, as she always said she didn't need a bigger home and that the boys would do well with what they had. However, this would be one of the first few blunders that Molly would have to forgive Arthur for making.
Another three years went by, and Molly was pregnant again, another boy. Now promptly comfortable in their new home, which Molly dubbed "The Burrow," Molly gave birth to a third Weasley child, naming this one Percy. Boys, boys and more boys. All their lives, Molly and Arthur had been surrounded by boys, and that hadn't changed when the first batch of their kids were born. And as Bill was learning to fly a broom, Charlie was catching gnomes in the backyard and Percy was just starting to walk, Molly found that she was pregnant again.
However, this latest pregnancy proved to be the most difficult so far. Molly was always tired, and she literally felt as if she was carrying a litter of kittens inside of her. She grew so big that she was really starting to get worried that there might be something wrong with the baby. Little did she know that there was not one baby inside of her. There were actually two babies inside of her, and when Fred and George were born, Molly wept. They were so precious, and she was so happy that they wouldn't be kicking her from the inside any more. However, she couldn't help but feel disappointed when they started kicking her from the outside now too.
Molly loved all her boys, even the two wild, younger ones, who nearly ate them all out of house and home. Molly begged Arthur to ask for a promotion, because they were really running low on funds, and if Bill was to start school soon, she had no idea how they were going to pay for it. She began using Bill's clothes for her younger boys, because they would not be able to afford new clothes for quite some time. Arthur loved his job, and even though he asked for a raise, he did not receive it.
Getting back into the swing of things, Molly found that her energy was returning to her after the twins were born. She was able to keep up with all her boys once more, cooking, cleaning after them and singing them all to sleep. Arthur began remodeling the house, adding in rooms for the older boys: one for Bill and Charlie and one for Percy and the twins. Little did he know that more Weasley children were looming in the horizon.
Two years after Fred and George were born, Ronald Bilius Weasley came into the world. He was one of the smallest Weasley children at birth, and Molly now had another baby boy to nurture and care for. Despite how happy Molly was to be having another baby in the family, it was not all happy for the Weasley's during this time. The week before Ron was born Arthur's brother, Bilius, passed away after seeing the grim. This was the reason Molly and Arthur gave Ron his middle name, in honor of Arthur's brother.
Yet, the Weasley roller coaster ride was not over. The day before Bill's tenth birthday, Arthur received word that he was to be promoted to Head of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office. Molly was so happy that she cried. Finally, they would be able to better support their six boys. Then, Molly received the news that she was pregnant AGAIN. A seventh child would put them back into financial debt, and although Molly didn't want this to happen, she was determined to have this child. It didn't matter if they had to ask for assistance or if they had to save up every single Knut Arthur brought home. Molly was going to have this child even if it killed her. Luckily, it didn't, and in August of that year, Ron's baby sister, Ginny Weasley was born.
Having six siblings really made things rough for Ron and his parents. They were very poor and could hardly even afford the clothes on their backs. A few months after Ginny's birth, Percy began having problems seeing. Also, Bill received his Hogwarts letter the summer after his 11th birthday. Molly and Arthur thought they surely wouldn't make it this time. However, in true Weasley style, Molly and Arthur pulled through with some help from Arthur's parents. Arthur's parents remembered how honored they felt that Arthur and Molly would give Ron the middle name of their late son, so they sent them a few Galleons to pay for Bill's school and Percy's glasses. That year, Bill started school and was sorted into Gryffindor. Slowly but surely, Ron's other brothers would follow in Bill's footsteps.
When the twins received their letters and went off to school, Molly and Arthur were a bit worried. Fred and George had been trouble-makers since day one, and giving them more artillery through the knowledge of spells and hexes was only going to add fuel to the fire. When they returned for the summer break after their first year, Fred and George were fully loaded and ready to cause mayhem throughout the house. Ron always tried to stay away from the twins and their messes, yet he always seemed to find himself in the thick of them. He was always a part of their jokes, and he hated it.
The year before receiving his own Hogwarts letter, Ron became very close to his sister, Ginny, both being the youngest Weasley children and the only ones left in The Burrow after the others left for school or for work. It was during this time that Ron started to develop this overly-protective nature whenever Ginny was outside. One time, she had fallen, and Ron was so scared that she had hurt herself. She was his responsibility, Molly said, and Ron didn't take his responsibilities lightly. So, he followed Ginny around the house all the time, until he received his Hogwarts letter.
His first year at Hogwarts was the start of these strange and bizarre happenings. On the platform before boarding the train, Ron met a boy by the name of Harry Potter. Of course, his parents had told him all about Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived, but Ron was always skeptical of his existence. He always thought it was just a bed time story to get all the kids to sleep. Yet, as he rode in the same compartment as The Boy Who Lived, Ron knew this was no bed time story. This boy was real.
Harry and Ron became fast friends, as they along with Dean Thomas, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, Seamus Finnigan, Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil were all sorted into Gryffindor House. Like his brothers before him, Ron was to be a Gryffindor. In fact, three of his brothers were still in school: Percy, the Prefect, Fred and George. That year, Ron (and his friends) had to face off with a troll, a baby dragon, a three-headed dog, a strangling plant, flying keys of doom and a game of Wizard's Chess to end all games. Of course, Ron won that game but not at the expense of getting tossed to the ground.
Second year, things didn't get any better. His father had gotten into a fight with Lucius Malfoy at the book store. He had to drive a flying car to Hogwarts, where it landed in the Whomping Willow and broke his wand. He was almost expelled. Then, there was something inside the castle that was petrifying students, animals and ghosts. Hermione was even petrified, and his sister, Ginny, who had just started that year, was taken into the Chamber of Secrets. It was a very frightening experience, since he thought his only sister, the one he was supposed to be taking care of, was going to die in the Chamber.
So, he accompanied Harry down into the Chamber to save her with the not so useful help of Gilderoy Lockhart, who tried to Obliviate their minds using Ron's faulty wand. However, it backfired on him, and he got the full extent of the blast himself, effectively causing him to lose his mind and all previous recollections of who he was. Harry then went into the Chamber and saved Ginny from Lord Voldemort's former and younger self, Tom Riddle. This was the year Ron received the Special Award for Services to the School. That summer, Arthur won the lottery and took his family to Egypt. The Weasleys then decided to stay at The Leaky Cauldron before taking their children back to school.
Third year for Ron was quite confusing. A murderer named Sirius Black was supposedly after Harry, there were Dementors all over the school, and Harry keep fainting all over the place. It was definitely odd. To add insult to injury, he found out that his rat, Scabbers, was actually not a rat at all but Peter Pettigrew, a supposed victim of Black's. Ron was dragged into the Shrieking Shack, where he learned about Sirius Black's connection with Peter, Remus Lupin (the current DADA professor/werewolf) and James Potter. It all boggled Ron's mind, not to mention his broken ankle. Madam Pomfrey repaired it just fine, though he spent quite a while in the Hospital Wing.
That summer, he and his friends went to see the Quidditch World Cup, Ireland vs. Bulgaria. It was here where he first saw Viktor Krum playing. Of course, he'd heard all about him, but he had never actually seen him play. It was incredibly magnificent. He became an instant fan of Krum's, until the school year started. After the Quidditch match, the camp was invaded by Death Eaters, supporters of Lord Voldemort. Ron saw the Dark Mark in the sky for the first time in his life, and he knew it meant nothing good for them.
Fourth year was anything but quiet for Ron as well. The Triwizard Tournament had come to Hogwarts, and Harry's name had come out of the Goblet of Fire. Ron was so angry with Harry for not telling him how he did it, how he got his name into the Goblet of Fire, when even Fred and George couldn't do it. It was the biggest fight they'd ever had, and Ron didn't speak to Harry in weeks. It was only after Harry competed in the first task of the Tournament that Ron realized how dangerous it really was. And after watching Harry do battle with a dragon, he figured anyone who entered their name in the Goblet of Fire had to be nutters. Ron and Harry made up after that and were best friends again.
Ron tried to help Harry with the other two tasks, letting him practice spells on him when necessary. Then, it was the Yule Ball, and Ron and Harry couldn't get dates if their lives depended on it. Ron had asked Hermione to go, but after being rejected by her with the "excuse" that she was going with someone else, he went to the Ball with Padma Patil. He also wore the ugliest dress robes known to mankind. He hated them, and they hated him. It was quite mutual actually. After the Ball, where he had another fight, this time with Hermione about his jealousy over her and Viktor Krum, Ron continued to help Harry with the tasks and was chosen to be "kidnapped" as the thing Harry never wanted to lose. He was quite relieved that Harry was still alive after the third task even though Cedric Diggory was dead.
The summer before his fifth year, Ron and his family stayed at 12 Grimmauld Place, the Headquarters for the newly established Order of the Phoenix. That year for Ron was probably the worst, even though he had made Prefect and was excited about that. He had Dolores Umbridge, the worst Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher ever, and Hermione and Harry kept getting in trouble with her. Then, his father was bitten by a snake just before Christmas, and Ron and his siblings had to leave early to stay with Sirius at Grimmauld Place. When they went to visit Arthur in the hospital, Ron, Harry and Hermione stumbled upon Gilderoy Lockhart, Neville and his parents in the insanity ward.
Sixth year was no exception to the insanity rule of Ron's life. This was the year Ron tried out for Quidditch and made the team as Keeper with a bit of help from Hermione. He was also mistakenly poisoned TWICE in the same day. He'd eaten some sweets that Romilda Vane had sent to Harry with love potion inside, and when Harry took him to Professor Slughorn to get the antidote, Ron drank a bit of poisoned Mead that nearly killed him. Luckily, Harry's quick thinking saved his life.
He did rather poorly in Quidditch matches, except when he thought he had taken Felix Felicis and when he felt confident in himself to do well. Toward the end of the year, Death Eaters had raided the school, and Ron, along with a few other DA members, under the influence of Felix Felicis, were able to fight a few of them off. Unfortunately, Dumbledore was killed and Ron's oldest brother, Bill, was badly injured. However, the worst of it had not passed. It was only yet to come.
The summer after his sixth year, Ron attended Bill and Fleur's wedding, only to have to escape from an on-coming Death Eater attack. The Minister had been killed, and the Ministry had been overrun by Death Eaters. Furthermore, Hogwarts was headed by Severus Snape and the Carrows. Fortunately (or unfortunately) for Ron, they were able to transfigure the ghoul in his attic into looking like Ron had a bad case of spattergroit, and Ron was able to accompany Harry and Hermione on their quest to destroy Voldemort's horcruxes. All in all, Ron played a crucial role in the destruction of several horcruxes and the defeat of Fenrir Greyback.
Following Voldemort’s defeat, Harry, Neville and Ron were recruited by Minister Shacklebolt to be Aurors, and seek out the remaining Death Eaters. Ron also helped George run the hugely successful Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes shop. Soon thereafter, Ron was ready to start a family of his own and married Hermione. He now has a daughter, whom they named Rose. Ron may have not been the Boy Who Lived or even the most perfect person in the world, but he one day hopes to be known for doing something great. Maybe have his picture on a Chocolate Frog card. Hm....
